The Need for Color Management

Are you looking to increase your ability to use color management? Is poor color costing you money? If
you are producing a direct marketing piece, national marketing campaign, or photograph, the color must be
correct. Color is used in printing, marketing and selling to correctly communicate our ideas.

If the color is produced incorrectly, there are at least two problems:

-A poor color reproduction damages the integrity of the message
-A poor color reproduction will result in lost sales

Accurate Color Represents Brand Identity
& Correct Product Presentation

Coca-Cola Red, Home Depot Orange and IBM Blue are all examples of colors that remind us of a brand.
Color communication is an important part of any business. Companies want to ensure that the color, symbol or logo that signifies a brand image is produced correctly and consistently. Many companies even trademark their colors. Consistent color in products, packaging and in all media is important to maintaining the brand identity & customer satisfaction. If you don’t produce accurate color, you are at a significant disadvantage compared to those who can.

Calibrating Your Monitor

To get the very best results when working with photos, layout & proofing/printing, you need to have a properly calibrated monitor. Calibrating the monitor improves the accuracy of your graphics and photos and allows others to view your images as they are intended to be viewed.

Images on screen look different from the same image in print. Calibrating your monitor provides a screen display that simulates what you would see on paper.

The simplest calibration methods involve adjustments to the Contrast and Brightness settings of your monitor. An intermediate method uses special software to calibrate your monitor as well as calibrate your printer, scanner, and other devices so that what you see on-screen, what you scan, and what you print all look the same - as much as is possible. For high-end use, even more precise hardware-based calibration methods exist.

Increasing Workflow By
Drinking Herbal Tea

Do you ever seem to forget what the last thing you were doing was? Does it become harder to keep up with your workflow & decision making as the day goes on. If you can relate to these problems, then you might be surprised that there is an herbal tea that can help you with this condition.

Herbal teas have long been known to have medicinal benefits as well as being tasty to drink! Some of my favorite teas are chamomile tea, jasmine tea and ginger tea. Each of these has a distinctive taste as well as health benefit.

Sage Tea is a medicinal wonder when it comes to helping with memory problems that are due to multi-tasking. It has taken 400 years but scientists have finally demonstrated what herbalists have long believed: sage is a tonic for the brain. Oil derived from the herb improved the memory of healthy young adults given a list of words to recall. The Medicinal Plant Research Centre at Newcastle and Northumbria universities (both in UK) tested a group of 44 adults aged between 18 and 37. Some were given capsules containing sage oil while others received a placebo capsule of sunflower oil. Those who took the sage oil performed consistently better, remembering more words than those who had the placebo.

Chamomile tea is a favorite herbal tea that many use if they have trouble sleeping. It has natural sedative, antiinflamatory and antispasmodic properties so is also good for cramps. Due to it’s calming benefits it is often used to help relieve anxiety. It is rich in essential oil and can help the digestive system function properly. Chamomile is also very good for your skin and you can wet a cloth in the tea and use it as a skin cleanser or compress.

Jasmine tea is a combination of green tea leaves and jasmine flowers. It has a lovely jasmine scent and flavor with all the wonderful antioxidant properties of the green tea. Jasmine tea has long been used for its relaxing and warming qualities and is also soothing to the digestive system. This tea also may help lower cholesterol according to recent studies and may even help with longevity.

Ginger tea has powerful medicinal properties. It is reputed to be a aphrodisiac and can help freshen your breath! It has anti fungal and anti spasmodic properties and can help soothe stomach upset by neutralizing acids and aiding digestion. Ginger is also reputed to help relieve nausea, motion sickness, dizziness, flatulence and even help to ease muscle pain.

To properly make herbal tea, use 1 tea bag per person or, if you are making it from the dried herbs, use 1 teaspoon of the herb. Add boiling water to the herb mixture and let sit for 5 minutes. Don’t let it sit for too long or it will start to taste bitter. Don’t drink it too soon or the herb won’t have imparted its flavor into the water enough. Typically herbal teas are taken “black” but you could add a little milk or some sugar or honey to taste if you like.
